Maya Parthasarathy is 21 years old and uses she/her pronouns. She is 5’11” and contrary to common assumptions, does not play basketball.
Maya has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area since she was five, but she spent 3.5 years at Syracuse University and 0.5 years in Strasbourg, France. She has a Bachelor’s in Newspaper & Online Journalism and Political Science, with a minor in English.
Though she was born and raised in the United States, Maya’s roots are in Southern India, where many of her relatives live. Despite her strong Californian accent, Maya is no stranger to Indian culture (specifically Tamil). She lives for good chaat, crisp dosas, paneer in pretty much any form, and samosas from the local Indian store.
Maya enjoys traveling, socially conscious comedy, and being around animals. She is passionate about equality, intersectional feminism, representation, and diversity.
Maya was initiated into Aunty-hood by a young friend who gave her this card when she went off to college:
Now she lives to gossip and offer unsolicited advice to the younger generation. Of course she’s not a regular aunty. She’s a cool aunty!
